Former Spice Girl Mel B has given her daughter the surname Murphy after the comedian Eddie Murphy, who still disputes that the baby is his.
In a statement explaining the name of her new daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, Mel B reaffirmed her insistence that Murphy is the father.
"Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy. Iris, as it's my grandma's name. Murphy, because he's the dad. And Brown, because I'm the mum," the pop star said.
Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, had a relationship with the actor before splitting at the end of the last year.
Showing off her new baby to OK! Magazine this week, Mel B said that the baby had Murphy's "big smile and dimples".
"She's gorgeous. She has taken the best bits of both of us. He will always be a part of my life. I will always love him. I couldn't hate Eddie. We had a dream life."
The former Spice Girl has an eight-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Angel was born on April 3rd in a hospital in California.
Mel B was publicly dumped by Murphy after the couple dated for six months.
