US rapper Kanye West has been arrested on suspicion of vandalism after an incident involving photographers at Los Angeles international airport.

Footage of the alleged incident appears to show Mr West and his bodyguard grab and then smash a photographer's camera as made their way through the airport on Thursday morning.

An airport spokesman told the BBC the bodyguard was also arrested and that the camera in question was valued at $10,000 (£5,709).

Airport spokesman Albert Rodriguez said: "West and the other man are currently in custody with airport police.

"They're expected to be transported to Los Angeles police department's Pacific division where they will be booked."

Footage of the incident has been made public by the celebrity website TMZ.com.

West recently closed the MTV Music Video awards in Los Angeles after a long-running dispute with the TV network.
