White Lies began their three-day Glastonbury marathon with a pitch-perfect tribute to tomorrow night's headliner on the Other Stage.
"We've learned this song just for you... but also for The Boss," suited-up lead singer Harry McVeigh said ahead of Bruce Springsteen's set on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night.
The band's cover of Dancing in the Dark was a worthy tribute to The Boss and a highlight of the first of their three sets in three days at Worthy farm this year.
Starting with To Lose My Life, the eponymous track from the group's number one debut album, they roared on to Farewell to the Fairground, From the Stars and EST.
The now jacket-free McVeigh literally growled his way through Unfinished Business and Fifty on our Foreheads before using The Price of Love as their penultimate effort.
"Our last song is called... Death," the lead singer said before launching into the band's standout, most crowd-pleasing track, ensuring that everyone who crowded round the Other Stage this afternoon traipsed off satisfied.
The only question is with two sets left (tomorrow at the John Peel Stage and the Guardian Lounge on Sunday), what material will White Lies play? And will they make it to see Bruce Springsteen on Saturday?
