Bruce Springsteen has stolen the show at Glasonbury Festival after a magnificient headlining set lasting more than two and a half hours.
The New Jersey rocker was in exuberant form at the Somerset event as he capped his first UK festival appearance with a reportoire including much-loved hits such as Born to Run and Dancing in the Dark.
The 59-year-old had earlier made a stunning surprise appearance during the Gaslight Anthem's set on the John Peel tent, joining the quartet as they played The '59 Sound, and the Boss later returned the favour, as Gaslight singer Brian Fallon joined him for a Pyramid Stage duet on No Surrender.
Neil Young had set a stunning precedent with his Friday night headlining set but Springsteen - famously known as The Boss - was more than up to the task and mixed classic cuts with tracks from his new album Working On A Dream.
"We are so glad to be in the beautiful rain-free Glastonbury tonight," he told the crowd during a lengthy rendition of the title track.
"I heard about it, I heard about it, I heard about it - now I'm seeing it.
"The mighty E Street Band has come thousands of miles tonight to fulfil a solemn vow to rock the house."
Blur close the 2009 festival on Sunday night with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat for Lashes and the Prodigy also on the bill.
