Get Cape: Glastonbury's problem is the weather

Get Cape says poor weather to blame for Glastonbury ticket sales
Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly has said poor weather rather than Jay-Z is to blame for slow ticket sales at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The New York rapper is headlining the legendary music event and has been cited by critics and musicians alike as the cause of this year's festival failing to sell out.

In previous years, tickets to the Somerset shindig have been snapped up within hours of going on sale but passes for the 2008 event still remain, with around 100,000 sold on the first day of sales.

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher had claimed Jay-Z's presence was "wrong" and the reason that Glastonbury 2008 had failed to sell out, but Get Cape - aka Sam Duckworth - has argued that the unpleasant weather conditions of recent years had caused festival goers to consider other events.

"I think it's the weather," he told inthenews.co.uk.

"I've been to Glastonbury for the last four years and it was hellish.

"No matter what people say about the state of Glastonbury and the mud, there's so many other amazing festivals, like the Latitude lineup which is incredible and you know it's going to be hot."

The Find the Time star also dismissed the notion that festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis' booking of Jay-Z for the Pyramid Stage had driven potential attendees away.

"I love Jay-Z and I think he's the best rapper in the world, if not one of the best of all time and Glastonbury's supposed to be a collection of eclectic, exciting music, so why are people tearing into the fact that they've gone out the person who's the best at what he does?" he asked

"How often would you get to see someone like Jay-Z? The Eavises have tried to put on a bill that's different."
