Duffy and Alex Turner lead the way for Mojo nominations

Thursday, 01 May 2008 16:36
Duffy is nominated in three categories for the Mojo Honours List 2008
Duffy and the Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner are the frontrunners to clean up in the Mojo Honours List 2008, it has been announced.

With three nominations, the Welsh songstress is recognised in more categories than any other artist, with nods for the best song and best album awards as well as the breakthrough artist prize.

And Alex Turner's talents are recognised in four separate categories with two nominations for both his regular work with Arctic Monkeys and his new side project, the Last Shadow Puppets.

Nick Cave is also twice-nominated, in both the best song and best album categories, joined in the latter by Radiohead for In Rainbows.

Other nominees include Robert Plant and Alison Krauss (best album), Rufus Wainwright (best live act) and Bob Dylan (compilation of the year).

"Once again the nominees for the Mojo Honours List are representative of genuine musical quality," said the magazine's editor-in-chief Phil Alexander.

"In an increasingly disposable age, they represent music that's built to last.

"There is a sense of authenticity and integrity that runs through all of these artists and Mojo is proud to celebrate their achievements."
