Britney turns herself in

Tuesday, 16 Oct 2007 09:13
Things go from bad to worse for Britney
Britney Spears has turned herself into police to be booked on charges of hit-and-run driving without a valid California driving licence.

The troubled pop star – who recently lost custody of her children Sean Preston and Jayden James to ex-husband Kevin Federline – reported to a local Los Angeles police station yesterday, confirmed officer Mike Lopez.

The charges relate to an incident on August 6th in a parking lot, in which paparazzi filmed Spears struggling to turn into a space in a Studio City car park, and steering her vehicle into a parked car.

She is then seen checking out the damage to her own car before walking away.

The 25-year-old – who was ordered by Los Angeles judge Scott Gordon to undergo regular drug treatment and parenting classes – was involved in another incident this weekend, after reversing into the car of a paparazzo.

Not wanting to face yet more legal ramifications, the Baby One More Time star tracked down the photographer in question, claiming "I'm stupid, I'm sorry... I'm a horrible driver", according to the World Entertainment News Network (Wenn).

Spears has somehow managed to keep a sense of humour as she struggles to resurrect her career, reportedly asking the photographer: "Are you going to sue me or something?"

Luckily for her – and her legal team – he promised not to press charges.End of story
