A children's cartoon character is set to represent Ireland in the annual Eurovision song contest this year.
Dustin the Turkey was picked during a televised vote last night as viewers called in and sent mobile text messages to pick their favourite among six entries.
The humorous stuffed animal's song Douze Pointe, which mocks the contest's voting system, charmed the Irish and will compete against other country's nominations in this year's competition in Belgrade.
However the plucky character is not to be taken lightly as he has six albums to his name including: Dustin: Unplucked, Faith Of Our Feathers, Poultry In Motion and Bling When You're Minging.
In the past, Ireland has won the European music contest seven times. The 53rd instalment of the show will take place in Belgrade in May and 43 countries will take part in the show.
