Pop star Lily Allen has posted a copy of her sick note from a doctor on MySpace explaining the cancellation of her European dates.
The singer was scheduled to play the Oya festival in Norway, the Way Out West festival in Sweden, Sagres in Portugal and Lowlands Festival in Holland.
Allen said that she should be well enough to play V Festival at the weekend and that she was "sorry" to any disappointed fans.
Writing on her MySpace blog, the singer said: "I've have literally been around the whole world in two weeks from London to Japan around Australia and then to LA and Vegas then back to LA for a 17-hour video shoot.
"Now I'm back in London eating my mum's chicken soup [be]cause I'm afraid the travelling has caught up with me.
"I've got sinusitis and strep throat (I don't even know what that is) and have been advised to take a couple of weeks off by a doctor in LA and a doctor here.
"Before anyone starts trying to accuse me of neglecting my fans I want to apologise and say how sorry I am, but I can't risk causing any permanent damage. I hope people can understand and aren't too angry."
The singer has had a hectic travelling schedule in recent weeks, flying to and from the US for gigs and awards ceremonies.
Allen is currently working on her new album which will follow on from her smash hit debut Alright, Still.
