Winehouse in Eurostar drama

Saturday, 06 Oct 2007 19:25
Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil
Love-struck singer Amy Winehouse caused a security scare at Waterloo International this week after refusing to board a Eurostar train.

The 24-year-old was meant to be travelling to Paris for a fashion show, but at the last minute had a change of heart about being away from husband Blake Fielder-Civil and bolted for the exit.

An eye-witness told the Daily Mirror that Winehouse, who has faced a year of drug and alcohol abuse allegations, scaled a security barrier and returned to the main station before being intercepted by a police officer.

"Amy was crying, gesticulating wildly and shouting while the man with her [tour manager] was trying to calm her and get her through the gate. She mentioned Blake's name more than once," the onlooker retold.

"Eventually they went through security, but then Amy came running back. She hurdled the security gate then ran up the escalator, shouting and screaming, into Waterloo station concourse.

"It was quite a sight - this tiny girl with a massive beehive leaping over a barrier. It was pretty clear she was not keen on getting on that train to Paris."

However, Winehouse was eventually convinced to return to the platform and board the Paris-bound train.

A spokesperson for London transport police later confirmed: "We spoke to a 24-year-old female at the Eurostar entrance yesterday. She wasn't detained and no further action was taken."End of story
