The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 59 songs to be considered in the original song category for the 80th Academy awards.
Four songs from new musical drama August Rush are included in the shortlist, while three tracks each from Dan In Real Life, Good Luck Chuck, Into the Wild and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story are named.
And three of the soundtrack highlights from Christmas movie Enchanted - released in the UK tomorrow - are shortlisted for the award.
Voting members of the Academy will assemble in Beverley Hills and New York on January 15th to view clips in random order from each song, after which they will name the three, four or five songs to be nominated for the Oscar.
Five films are named twice in the list, namely Badland, Grace Is Gone, The Hottest State, Music and Lyrics and Once.
Reformed boyband Take That look a strong bet for a nomination for Rule the World from the Stardust soundtrack while the beautiful Le Festin by Camille from the soundtrack of Disney/Pixar comedy Ratatouille is also likely to feature.
The nominations for the 80th Academy awards will be announced on January 22nd.
