Cheeky popstar Lily Allen has been added to the line-up for the Concert for Diana event to be held at Wembley Stadium this summer.

Both Allen and the veteran rocker Rod Stewart were announced as additions to the bill today, as well as Kanye West, Natasha Bedingfield and Status Quo.

Stewart has performed at royal events before, memorably at the Queen's jubilee when he performed a number of his classic hits.

But Allen is a somewhat surprise addition to a line-up which includes a number of mainstream acts such as the English National Ballet and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The event will be hosted by Elton John, a long-time friend of the late princess.

Prince William and Harry have organised the event, which will take place on July 1st, marking the day when Diana would have turned 46.

Extra tickets will be on sale on Friday April 27th at 09:00 BST from the event's website and all proceeds will go to charities supported by the late princess.

When the event was launched, Prince William said: "We wanted to have this big concert with, you know, full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted.

"And on her birthday as well, it's got to be the best birthday present she ever had."

The event will also be broadcast on TV to millions of viewers in over 140 countries around the world.
