In the wake of the Oscar-nominated Pan's Labyrinth, Guillermo Del Toro returns to the world of comic-book action to direct the follow-up to his 2004 flick Hellboy.
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army takes us back to the life of the world's toughest, kitten-loving hero at a time when an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic has been broken.
When a ruthless dictator able to tread both in the world above and that below awakens an unstoppable army of viscous creatures onto the land of the surface it appears that hell on earth is ready to erupt.
Only Hellboy (Ron Perlman) - the world's toughest and roughest superhero - can battle his way through armies of marauders in order to save the planet.
Along with his expanding team in the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Development – his pyrokinetic girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), the aquatic empath Abe (Doug Jones) and the protoplasmic mystic Johann – Hellboy must journey across the void from our world on the surface to that beneath and once more embrace the unknown destiny that lies before him.
