Emma Watson has responded to speculation about her new boyfriend by admitting she's "really happy" with the budding romance.

The Harry Potter star has been the subject of tabloid speculation since being photographed with an admin worker named Joel after the Empire awards on Sunday.

And though the 17-year-old actress has typically been reluctant to discuss previous relationships - such as with young rugby player Tom Ducker - she told the Mirror newspaper she is enjoying getting to know her current beau.

"I'm really happy. I'm not sure if he is 'the one' just yet, we've only been going out together for three weeks, but it's brilliant at the moment," she said.

"He is a friend of a friend. We've known each other for a while but we only got together last month.

"He isn't an actor and he didn't go to my school, which is great. We're just having fun."

Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the hugely successful franchise based on JK Rowling's books, has been romantically linked to her co-star Daniel Radcliffe in the past and was last month photographed with Johnny Borrell after a fashion awards show - though it later emerged the pair only shared a car to an after-party.

The young thespian added: "I've been linked to so many guys I sound like a wanton woman. Daniel and I have been mates for the past six years, so we're used to it.

"Then there was Johnny Borrell. But this is my boyfriend now."
