Newman plans "last hurrah"

Film legend Paul Newman has said he intends to make one more film before retiring from Hollywood completely.

The 81-year-old US actor told the Associated Press that he had one more project in mind before withdrawing from the limelight for good.

"I will probably have one film left in me - the last hurrah. When it's time to get out, it's time to get out," he said.

Newman's career began acting on US TV in the 1950s, before breaking onto the big screen in the early 1960s. Among the best-known of his films are Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, The Sting and Sweet Bird Of Youth.

He won a best actor Oscar in 1986 for his role in The Color Of Money and more recently won an Emmy for Empire Falls, a short TV series.

Newman's next outing comes in Cars, Pixar's latest animated effort, as the voice of a grumpy 1957 Hudson Hornet called Doc Hudson.

His comments came during a promotional visit to the Double H ranch, a camp set up by Newman for seriously ill children.

"When we started the camp we had no idea of the profound impact these camps would have on these kids," he told reporters.End of story
