Once famous for his hardcore partying and womanising ways, Colin Farrell has revealed that he is no longer one of Hollywood's biggest bad boys.

Some celebs give up their hardcore lifestyles due to religion or romance, but the Irish actor said that he was saved by his three-year-old son.

"I was burning the candle at both ends and the flames met in the middle," he told the Daily Mirror in an exclusive interview.

"Now I want to watch my son grow up, be his friend and his father, and hang around with him. So he's the greatest priority in my life."

Before checking himself into rehab seven months ago, the actor's alcohol problems caused trouble on the set of his latest film Miami Vice, leading to fights with fellow co-star Jamie Foxx and director Michael Mann.

And during filming for the epic Alexander last year, Farrell was so drunk that he broke his ankle after falling out of a window.

When asked to write down how much alcohol and drugs he had in one week, Farrell was able to record a worrying – take a deep breath – 20 ecstasy tablets, four grams of coke, six grams of speed, half an ounce of hash, three bottles of Jack Daniels, 12 bottles of red wine and 60 pints.

Despite the cinematic flop Alexander, the 30-year-old star is hoping for a return to the big time with Miami Vice, Woody Allen's as-yet-untitled effort and The Kingdom.
