Producer Barbara Broccoli has hinted underfire new James Bond star Daniel Craig could be in line for a second starring role as the secret agent.
Broccoli revealed that a sequel to Casino Royale, currently being filmed, is already being mulled over and the likelihood is that Craig would be asked to stay on in the role.
"We are already working on the sequel," Broccoli announced. "We're in the early stages of that.
"It will be an original story but will continue part of what the story is in Casino Royale."
Chester-born Craig, 38, has been on the receiving end of an intense Bond fan backlash ever since being unveiled as Pierce Brosnan's successor in October last year.
The star of films including Munich and Layer Cake has even seen an international web-based film boycott launched against him.
But after receiving great acclaim from fellow actors, he is starting to win fans over and many of his fiercest critics are beginning to descend into quiet anticipation.
