Cate Blanchett has been honoured with a career achievement award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF).
The 37-year-old actress has had a prolific career during which she has won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe along with numerous other awards nominations.
Commenting on the PSIFF award, festival chairman Earl Greenburg said: "Cate Blanchett is one of the greatest talents of our generation and after reviewing her work in Notes on a Scandal and The Good German we had to single her out and recognise her for those performances as well as her ensemble performance in Babel."
Blanchett has been nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild (Sag) award this year for best supporting actress in Notes on a Scandal, in which she stars alongside Judi Dench.
Babel, her latest film with Brad Pitt, is also up for a Sag award for outstanding cast performace.
Blanchett first rose to the fore playing Elizabeth I and has since had roles in high-profile films including The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Aviator.
Previous recipients of the PSIFF career achievement award include Kevin Costner and Samuel L Jackson.
