Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams is in talks to star alongside Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg in upcoming drama The Fighter.
The Relativity Media production, to be directed by Three Kings' David O Russell, tells of real life boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward.
Wahlberg is to play the titular pugilist, with The Dark Knight star Bale as his troubled half-brother and trainer Dick Eklund.
And according to the Hollywood Reporter, Adams is in talks with Relativity Media to take the role of Mickey Ward's girlfriend Charlene, a tough-talking bartender and former college high jumper from Massachusetts.
Set to commence shooting on location in July in Lowell, The Fighter tells of Ward's early days in the Massachusetts town as Eklund battled drug addiction and Ward began his long road to clinching a world light heavyweight championship belt.
Adams' fellow Oscar nominee Melissa Leo is already attached to star as Ward and Eklund's mother, with Wahlberg producing alongside Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, Ryan Kavanaugh, Paul Tamasy and Dorothy Aufiero.
The Fighter has had a tough ride to the ring, with Darren Aronofsky originally attached to direct, with Matt Damon and later Brad Pitt signed on to play Eklund until Aronofsky's exit caused the film to stall.
