Cerys Matthews has been voted off I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, leaving three contestants in the Australian jungle.

The former Catatonia singer narrowly missed out on the final three, with former model Janice Dickinson, ex-boyband member Jason 'J' Brown and actor Christopher Biggins the last celebrities in the Queensland camp.

Cerys struck up a headline-making friendship with former EastEnders actor Marc Bannerman while on the show, and Bannerman is since thought to have split with his long-term girlfriend over his onscreen flirting with the Welsh singer.

He also sent a letter to Cerys after being voted off the programme, saying: "There are many problems in London, but I may well return to greet you when you come out, if that is your wish."

But when presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly told the departing Cerys that Marc had not returned to Australia, she replied: "I'm a bit gutted he's not here actually."

When asked about the nature of her relationship, the 38-year-old said: "We got on really well from the beginning, and there was a threesome with me, Marc and Anna. Then we started to spend more time together and we thought, 'Oh shoot'. Because it's not right, is it?"

She added: "You're in this bubble and you forget everyone's watching. You think you're having all these secret experiences in there."

After further questioning from the Geordie duo, Cerys said she was "always Jane looking for a Tarzan", adding "I still don't know what to expect because we didn't talk. We calmed down a bit and Marc got voted out."

The winner of the seventh series of the show will be announced tonight with Biggins the firm favourite.

"I'd love Mr C Biggins to win," Cerys admitted. "He absolutely got us through all this."
