Borat could be followed by Bruno
Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly signed a £22 million deal with Universal Studios to bring another quirky character to life after his success with Borat and Ali G.
Cohen, who is quickly becoming one of the most successful and powerful comedians in the entertainment industry, is said by entertainment magazine Hollywood Reporter to have inked the mammoth deal.
The Talladega Nights star has signed a contract that will see a film revolve around Bruno, a homosexual Austrian fashion show presenter.
The character originated on his Ali G television show and will be the third of his alter egos to light up the silver screen.
A bidding war is reported to have taken place to acquire the rights for Bruno, which will begin production next summer.
Cohen is also stretching his comedic muscles bringing original characters to the big screen. He has two films slated for released next year.
Oxide and Vic Thrill centres on a young Hasidic Jew and an ageing rocker who form a band. Dinner for Schmucks, meanwhile, is about a stupid man who causes chaos in the lives of those he meets.
Cohen's latest film, Borat, has caused controversy since he started a press tour in Cannes.
