Charlotte Church's first attempt at hosting her own chatshow did not set Friday nights alight, but her relaxed attitude and willingness to poke fun at herself attracted enough fans for Channel 4 to commission a second series of the show. Kicking off on Friday night (February 23rd), the Charlotte Church Show sees her returning with a number of high profile guests including Billie Piper and Gwen Stefani.
Also coming back to the chatshow scene this week is the Graham Norton Show (BBC2 22/02/07). Expect the usual flair and outrageous comments along with celebrity guests.
People may be more used to seeing Catherine Tate dressed up as a mouthy schoolgirl but in The Bad Mother's Handbook (ITV1 19/01/07) she proves that she can show a far more serious side. The comedienne and actress stars as Karen, a dissatisfied mother and ex-wife living in an ex-council house whose life takes a different turn when she is given the opportunity to go on a trip to Paris.
Shocking practices carried out by some estate agents are uncovered in Confessions of an Estate Agent (ITV1 20/02/07). Among the scandalous practices are agents using luxury pads to impress lovers and timing viewings so that they miss noisy trains going past and school runs taking place.
From property to politics, the three-part series Blair: The Inside Story (BBC2 20/02/07) from award-winning documentary maker Michael Cockerell analyses the last ten year's of Tony Blair's time as prime minister. Key insights are given from interviews with Downing Street insiders, Cabinet colleagues and rivals. Shown in three parts, this week's instalment covers the years up until September 11th.
A new comedy series starts this week which looks at the perils of employment. In Fear, Stress and Anger (BBC2 22/02/07), starring Pippa Haywood and Peter Davison, Martin flounders as his job is downsized and he is forced to work from home and be answerable to his former assistant.
Tough man Phil has a hard time trying to juggle the demands of Ben, work and Stella in EastEnders (BBC1 19, 20, 22, 23/02/07) and Max comes under fire after Tanya accuses him of having an affair and Stacey makes a confession - forcing him to make a few decisions.
In Emmerdale (ITV1 19-23/02/07) Viv is secretly delighted when Bob cancels his interview with Naughty Nylons but her happiness is soon dashed after he undergoes a change of heart. Rosemary meanwhile is at loggerheads with the King brothers over the details of Tom's funeral and Shadrach creates problems for Debbie's business.
David steps up his blackmailing of Tracy in Coronation Street (ITV1 19, 21, 23/02/07) and demands that she grant him sexual favours in return for his cover story. The Barlows are given a nasty shock in court as the trial kicks off, as is Steve when he spots Sean in a clinch with another man.
