Reformed girl band the Spice Girls have announced three additional dates to their world tour.

The quintet will now play gigs at Vancouver, Shanghai and San Jose in California, bringing their global tour up to 14 concerts.

A message on the Spice Girls' website said that three million tickets for the world tour had been bought online already.

"In true Girl Power tradition we are taking over the world…again," it read.

The Spice Girls, consisting of Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell, announced they were getting back together last month.

The all-girl group went their separate ways six years ago, following on from Halliwell (AKA Ginger Spice) exiting the group in 1998.

At their peak they sold 55 million albums and chalked up nine UK number one singles, with debut single Wannabe hitting the top spot in 31 countries worldwide.

Revised Spice Girls world tour dates:

4th – San Jose, US
