Amy Winehouse is still in hospital after being admitted for tests on Monday, her spokesman has confirmed.

The troubled singer was taken to the London Clinic in Marylebone and kept in for observation after she fainted near her Camden home in north London.

Though doctors were initially unsure as to the cause of the incident, Winehouse's spokesman had said the Back to Black star should return home later today.

But he has now told the Daily Mail newspaper that Winehouse is to remain at the clinic for further observation.

"She seems to be fine in herself, but they are taking their time to be sure," he explained.

"She's staying there for the time being. They are still not quite sure what happened and the tests were inconclusive."

She had been signing autographs for Canadian fans who had been waiting outside her house all day when the incident happened, her representative said on Monday.

The Grammy-winner was admitted to a hospital in London suffering from "severe exhaustion" last year, and later reports claimed she was being treated in a rehabilitation facility.

Having played an exclusive concert at an art gallery in Moscow for Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich, the Ivor Novello winner is due to appear in London's Hyde Park, at a charity gig marking the 90th birthday of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

While two people were charged last week over a video that purported to show the singer smoking a crack cocaine pipe, police confirmed in May that Winehouse would not face charges.

She was, however, cautioned by police earlier this year after admitting a common assault following an incident in Camden, north London.

Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently on trial in south London having admitted charges of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
