The Chronicles of Narnia will continue in cinemas after 20th Century Fox signed up to produce the third film, Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Disney had developed the first two movies based on CS Lewis' fantasy novels but pulled out of the third instalment last month over "budgetary considerations and other logistics".
Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which will see Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley reprising their roles as Prince Caspian, Edmund and Lucy, will hit the screen in summer 2010, Variety reports.
Son of Rambow actor Will Poulter is also attached and is to play Eustace Clarence Scrubb.
While The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first film in the franchise, made $745 million (£523 million) worldwide after its 2005 release, 2008's Prince Caspian was viewed as a relative failure, with $420 million (£295 million) in box office receipts.
However, it is hoped the more family-friendly tone of Voyage of the Dawn Treader will restore the magic to the Narnia franchise.
The third film is expected to shoot in Australia, as the original location of Baja, Mexico has been hit by a spate of drug violence and kidnappings.
Voyage of the Dawn Treader sees Edmund, Lucy and their cousin Eustace journeying to the magical land of Narnia through a painting of a ship.
