Australian newsreader Charmaine Dragun found dead at notorious Sydney suicide spot
A news anchor for Australia's Network Ten has been found dead in Sydney, police have confirmed.
Charmaine Dragun's body was discovered at the bottom of The Gap, a section of Sydney's sea cliffs synonymous with suicide.
A police statement confirmed that the 29-year-old's death was not being treated as suspicious.
"Police arrived and located the woman deceased at the scene," a police spokesperson said.
Ms Dragun was the co-anchor of Network Ten's primetime evening news programme Ten News Perth, which was recorded in Sydney.
Her colleagues have said that she never fully adjusted to the move to Australia's largest city after leaving her family behind in Perth.
"We are all in a state of shock and sadness at this terrible news," said Network Ten chief executive officer Grant Blackley.
"Charmaine was a highly intelligent, vibrant and caring person, universally liked and admired by her colleagues.
"Our deepest sympathies go to her partner, Simon, and her family.
"We are doing what we can to support them and urge everyone to respect their privacy at this time."
