TV presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won three prizes at last night's National Television Awards, held at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Their ITV1 series I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was named the most popular reality TV programme, while they were also named best hosts.

And the Geordie duo's Saturday Night Takeaway show, one of many ITV programmes recently embroiled in a phone-in scandal, was named best entertainment programme.

The pair didn't accept their awards in person as they're in Los Angeles on their way to film the next I'm A Celebrity… series in Australia, but sent out a "massive heartfelt thank you to everybody who voted for us".

"We are over the moon," McPartlin added.

BBC1's Eastenders was named best soap while Lacey Turner took the best actress prize for her role as the conniving Stacey Slater.

And a good night for the BBC continued with Top Gear taking the best factual show award for the second year running, while host Jeremy Clarkson was presented with the special recognition award by Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

The outspoken presenter joked: "I was a bit miffed that Al Gore won the peace certificate [Nobel Prize]. This more than makes up for it."

The X-Factor was named best talent show, while Catherine Tate took the best comedy show gong at the awards ceremony hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald.
