Justin Timberlake enjoyed his first UK number one single with Sexyback last week
Justin Timberlake has sung his away straight to the top of the UK album chart with his new album, Futuresex/Lovesounds.
The popularity of his second album follows the success enjoyed by his latest single, Sexyback, which last week gave Timberlake his first solo UK number one. The song remained at number two in the singles chart yesterday.
Timberlake, who found fame with the boy band *N Sync, beat indie band The Fratellis to the top album spot. Their new offering, Costello Music, came in at number two ahead of The Truth About Love, the new album by former Fame Academy finalist Lemar.
Northern Irish band Snow Patrol, whose album Eyes Open held the top spot last week, fell to four, while Kasabian became the second indie band to score a top five place in the album chart with Empire.
Meanwhile, Timberlake's professional success looks set to keep running, with reports claiming that the 25-year-old singer has teamed up with iconic eighties pop band Duran Duran to produce tracks on their new album.
But it seems that in Timberlake's private life, things are not going so full steam ahead.
Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show earlier this month, the singer said that he would marry long-term love Cameron Diaz, 32, in "15 years".
Asked by the chat show host whether she should buy a bridesmaid dress amid rumours of an engagement between him and the actress, Timberlake told the comic that she could "go ahead and reserve one".
"The only thing is you'll have to stay the same size for the next 15 years," he added.
