Singin' in the Rain remix claims number one spot

Three-year-old Singin' in the Rain remix reaches number one
A three-year-old song has topped the UK singles charts after being used by Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson.

Mint Royale's remix of Singin' in the Rain has climbed 27 places to knock Rihanna's Take A Bow off the number one spot.

The revamped version of the musical classic, which reached number 20 after its 2005 release, had easily surpassed the Barbadian's sales after Sampson performed a rain-soaked break dancing routine to it on Saturday's live Britain's Got Talent final.

The song, which had only been available as a download, re-entered the chart at number 28 after the 14-year-old's body popping performance in the reality show semi-final and has now topped the pile after he won the ITV1 talent contest.

In the album chart, Paul Weller's new effort 22 Dreams debuted in the number one spot with other new entries coming from Radiohead's Best Of, the Zutons' You Can Do Anything and Danish pop stars Alphabeat's debut.
