Kerry Katona and new baby safe after induced labour

Kerry Katona has given birth to a fourth child
Reality TV star Kerry Katona has finally given birth to her fourth child.

Maxwell Croft was born at 17:42 BST on Friday, the website of their show Kerry Katona: Crazy in Love said.

"Mummy and baby are doing well and the family are very excited about their latest addition," a statement added.

"Kerry would like to thank all the staff at the Macclesfield district general hospital for the fantastic care she received."

Katona's two-day labour began when her waters broke on Wednesday and the decision was eventually taken to induce labour.

Her natural birth appeared to go well, even if MTV cameramen were in the room to film this important moment in her life for her, and it represents a big plus for the somewhat troubled ex-Atomic Kitten pop star.

Last month Katona was admitted to the Priory rehabilitation centre, apparently dismayed by reports of her husband's alleged infidelity.

She has struggled to recover from the trauma of an incident in July 2007 which saw her house raided by three armed burglars who were wielding a sledgehammer, crowbar and large knife.

Katona has named her new arrival after publicist Max Clifford. She has one other child, Heidi Elizabeth, with current husband Croft and two others with ex-husband Bryan McFadden.End of story
