Jay Z gets by with a little help from his A-list friends
Jay Z managed to score himself some of the most A-list backing singers ever yesterday.

The rapper was joined on stage by Coldplay singer Chris Martin and his wife, the Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Jay Z's gig was the first-ever hip-hop concert to take place at the Royal Albert Hall, more usually known for classical music at the Proms.

Martin joined him for Dead Presidents II and Ain't No Love, while Paltrow provided backing vocals on a number of tracks including Song Cry from Jay Z's The Blueprint album.

His fiancee Beyonce also sang her hits with him, Crazy In Love and Deja Vu.

Chris Martin is working with the hip-hop star to write material for Jay Z's comeback album Kingdom Come.

As well as Martin, Jay Z is also collaborating with some of the biggest hip-hop singers and producers on his new material, including Timbaland, Kanye West and Dr Dre.
