Beatles share the love with new album

Wednesday, 04 Oct 2006 08:06
The new Beatles album is due for release in November
All you need is Love when it comes to extending your Beatles record collection.

EMI Music and Apple Corps Ltd, the company established to oversee the legendary band's interests, announced yesterday that the Beatles' iconic producer George Martin has mixed a selection of original tracks for a new album, entitled Love.

The music, put together by Martin and his son Giles, has already been used as a soundtrack for the Cirque du Soleil stage show, also entitled Love, which opened in Las Vegas in June.

But the re-mixed Beatles songs, taken from original master tapes made at the Abbey Road studios, have now been compiled into a new album after permission for the project was granted by surviving band members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and the relatives of John Lennon and George Harrison.

The new album, due for release in November, uses state-of-the-art digital technology to remix classic Beatles anthems, such as All You Need Is Love and Get Back, with outtakes and demos never previously released by the Fab Four.

Commenting on the new album yesterday, George Martin said in a statement: "The Beatles always looked for other ways of expressing themselves and this is another step forward for them.

"What people will be hearing on the album is a new experience, a way of re-living the whole Beatles musical lifespan in a very condensed period," he added.End of story
