Babel leads way at Golden Globes

Babel, The Departed and The Queen look set to be the big winners at this year's Golden Globe awards.

Helen Mirren has been nominated for three awards; one for her role as Britain's monarch in The Queen and two for best actress in a mini-series for her roles in Elizabeth I and Prime Suspect.

The Queen has been nominated for best motion picture, best director and best screenplay.

Also up for best picture are Babel, Bobby, The Departed and Little Children.

Babel, starring Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt, has also been nominated for best original score, best actress in a supporting role (Adriaba Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi), best actor (Brad Pitt), best director (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu) and best screenplay.

Leonardo DiCaprio's The Departed, also starring Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson, is also up for best actor (DiCaprio), best supporting actor (Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg), best director (Martin Scorsese) and best screenplay.

Lost, 24, Big Love and Grey's Anatomy have been nominated for best television drama series.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on January 15th in Los Angeles.
