Leona Lewis and Take That are on shortlist for the British single of the year prize at Brit awards.
Leona Lewis and reformed boyband Take That are on the shortlist for the British single of the year prize at this Wednesday's Brit awards.
An initial list of ten candidates has been whittled down to five nominees after a public vote with Leona's Bleeding Love - the biggest-selling song of 2007 - the firm favourite to take the award.
Voting lines have now opened for the public to name their favourite single of the year, with the Hoosiers' Worried About Ray also up for consideration.
Mika's Grace Kelly and Valerie - Mark Ronson's collaboration with Amy Winehouse - are also nominated, while Shine by Take That completes the list.
Lines will close during the live broadcast of the show on Wednesday February 20th with the winner announced soon after.
The British single award is one of three categories decided by a public vote with BBC Radio 2 listeners naming the best live act while BBC Radio 1 listeners are responsible for picking the British breakthrough act.
Mercury prize-winners Klaxons have been nominated in both categories and have revealed they've been preparing a collaboration with Rihanna for a performance of her smash hit Umbrella at the ceremony.
Talking to Radio 1's Newsbeat, James Righton explained the production work was taking longer than they had anticipated.
"It's been a bit of a funny one because she's in America and we're over here," he explained.
"They've got this funny idea of what our band sounds like and we've done three or four different versions.
"Her people kept sending versions back going 'No, this sounds more like you'.
"It's strange when someone thinks they're better at being you than you are!"
Wednesday night's show is to be presented by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne while Sir Ian McKellen and Doctor Who star David Tennant are to be among the guests presenting awards.
