Stage set for Frasier reunion

David Hyde Pierce (right) says he and Kelsey Grammer could appear on stage together
The cast of Emmy award-winning US sitcom Frasier could be set to reunite on Broadway.

David Hyde Pierce revealed that he has discussed the prospect of starring in a play with co-stars Kelsey Grammer – who played the eponymous radio phone-in shrink Frasier Crane – and John Mahoney.

Pierce and Mahoney were Grammer's on screen brother and father, Niles and Martin Crane, during the comedy show's 12-year run, which ended in 2005.

"We got together and had breakfast and all we talked about is what plays we might do together," Pierce told the Reuters news agency.

"We were only talking about plays because we're all getting on in years and there is only so much dancing you can do."

The 47-year-old actor's latest production Curtains opened on Broadway on Thursday, while screen and stage veteran Mahoney can currently be seen in Prelude to a Kiss.

And Grammer himself has experience of treading the boards, having once featured in the New York Philharmonic's My Fair Lady.
