Joan Rivers apologises for swearing live on air on Loose Women
Joan Rivers has apologised for swearing live on air on daytime TV show Loose Women.

The comedienne had been discussing Russell Crowe on the ITV1 show when she swore, expecting that her language would be edited out.

But despite the 75-year-old warning, "get ready to bleep this" before her comment, the producers of the talkshow did not add an editorial bleep over the swear word.

"We do apologise for that," said host Jackie Brambles, after Rivers' remark. "Joan didn't realise that we were absolutely live."

And in a statement issued after the show, the stand-up great admitted: "Yes, I swore, and I'm so f****** sorry.

"No one told me the TV show Loose Women was a reality show and that I would be voted off.

"It's funny: offstage, I hardly ever use profanity. My favourite four-letter word is 'shop.'"

An ITV statement issued after the show said: "Guests are always briefed that it is a live daytime show and are reminded not to swear or use inappropriate language.

"An editorial decision was taken that Joan Rivers should not appear in the final part of the programme.

"We would like to apologise to Loose Women viewers for the inappropriate language used on [the] show."
