He has made a living out of self-inflicted pain, but Jackass star Johnny Knoxville was less than amused when he felt the pain of falling victim to a 'happy slapping' attack in Canada.
The all-American joker was approached in a bar in Toronto by a fan who asked him if he could have a photo together with him using his camera.
Knoxville happily obliged and posed smiling for the camera, only for the fan to turn around and smack him squarely in the face, while his friend gleefully recorded the incident on camera.
And as he told FHM magazine, the Jackass star didn't take too kindly to being the butt of a practical joke after making fools out of hundreds of people on the cult MTV series.
"I had this situation in this bar in Toronto two nights ago. Two guys asked to take a picture with me, so they pull out a camera and one guy slaps me in the face. Motherf***er!," Knoxville said.
"So I punched him a couple of times then I went for his friend."
He added: "You know, I just wanted a drink!"
A drink in a bar sounds like a quiet evening for Knoxville, who recently told reporters that his idea of a good night out involved "a scotch, a large amount of amphetamines and a water-based lubricant".
Nevertheless, Knoxville may have to work a little on his somewhat rudimentary approach to retribution, as he is due to star in a new Hollywood private eye thriller, Hollywood Dick. Remember, Johnny, if you're going to dish out a good old fashioned beating, don't get caught on camera.
