Angus Deayton has been announced as the replacement for Jonathan Ross to host this year's Comedy Awards, which will be screened on ITV1.
Ross stepped down following the controversy surrounding prank phonecalls he made to actor Andrew Sachs on Russell Brand's radio show last month.
The Friday Night host said he felt it would be "inappropriate" for him to host the awards after being suspended by the BBC for three months without pay.
Deayton is himself no stranger to controversy, having been axed by the corporation from hosting popular satirical quiz Have I Got News for You after newspaper allegations about his private life emerged in 2002.
However Guy Freeman, the controller of ITV music and events, said: "Angus is simply one of the best.
"We always hoped that he would agree to take on the challenge of hosting one of TV's toughest gigs, and now we're thrilled that he has."
