Chantelle 'not a real celebrity'
Chantelle Houghton may be having the best time of her life at the moment, after getting engaged to singer Preston, but she won't be too happy to hear the latest comments about her.

Cheeky TV hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly think that reality TV star Chantelle's new-found fame is a celebrity "trick" that's gone wrong.

In an interview with Arena magazine, Dec said he thought her desire to be famous had gone too far.

"Chantelle is like a trick played on celebrities that has got out of hand," he said. "I'm not sure that would happen in any other country."

Bubbly blonde Chantelle was the only non-famous person in the Celebrity Big Brother house this year, but has since become extremely well-known thanks to advertising contracts and tabloid interviews.

Dec added: "Celebrity used to be a by product of your day job, but now it's just a day job to be a celebrity. That never used to exist before.

"I wonder how many kids now do want to be firemen and policemen and nurses and stuff, and how many kids just want to be famous."

Geordies Ant and Dec, who have presented reality TV shows like Pop Idol, are currently starring in their first film Alien Autopsy.

Ant insisted they weren't threatened by the new breed of 'celebrities' being created by the TV shows.

"It's no challenge to what I do," he said. "If they're in the paper more than me, then that's good. It's very curious though, it'll be interesting to see what happens."track
