Britney Spears: Web's most wanted

Tuesday, 05 Dec 2006 16:47
Britney Spears is currently divorcing her second husband, Kevin Federline
Her career may be in a bit of a lull at the moment, but Britney Spears has continued to be the most searched-for celebrity on the internet in 2006.

The 25-year-old singer, who has arguably been more famous of late for her personal life than her music, has topped Yahoo!'s overall searches as well as the search engine's celebrity searches.

No doubt Britney's recent partying with infamous heiress Paris Hilton following her separation from second husband Kevin Federline and her less-than-subtle knickerless crotch flashing have contributed to surfers eagerly typing out her name on the search bar.

Other celebrities who have made it on to Yahoo!'s top overall searches as well as its top celebrity searches are Shakira, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Beyonce Knowles, Pamela Anderson and Lindsay Lohan.

Singer Mariah Carey and actress Jessica Alba complete the most popular celebrity searches.

Chris Brown, who was last night named as the new artist of the year at the Billboard music awards, was the lone male making it into the top ten overall searches.

Hinting at which shows are the most popular at the moment, music talent search American Idol and the wrestling mayhem of WWE complete the top ten searches.
