The Big Brother house lost a second resident this morning after the show's oldest contestant quit the reality TV show.

Retired headhunter Lesley Brain walked out of the house at 09:15 BST.

A Big Brother spokeswoman confirmed the departure of the former Cambridge don who had previously complained that she was bored in the house.

Lesley, from Gloucestershire, told Big Brother earlier in the week: "I am more bored than is acceptable to me in the sense that I have better things to do."

According to the Big Brother website the WI member dislikes "negative under-achievers, people without ambition and no-hopers", so it is perhaps no surprise that she found it hard to gel with her fellow contestants.

While the 60-year-old is not the first Big Brother competitor to have walked out in the show's history, she is the second contestant to leave the latest series before the public has even voted to evict one of the housemates.

Drama student Emily Parr was removed from the Big Brother house on Thursday after making a racist remark. The episode followed the international row sparked after Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty was subjected to alleged racist abuse during the celebrity version of the show earlier in the year.

But while the Big Brother house is now a further contestant down, fans of the show were last night treated to the addition of two new men in the house - art gallery researcher Gerry Stergiopoulos and charity worker Seany O'Kane.
