Police charge actor Chris Langham with nine sex offences
The actor Chris Langham is appearing in court today after being charged with eight counts of indecent assault and one other sexual offence.
He is expected to attend Sevenoaks magistrates court this afternoon.
Kent police charged Mr Langham, who is from the Cranbrook area, under the Sexual Offences Act 1956 after he answered his bail at a police station in Kent yesterday.
Mr Langham was previously charged with 15 counts of making indecent images of children on May 10th this year.
In a statement following yesterday's charges, he announced his determination to clear his name and said that the legal process prevented him from commenting further.
As a successful British writer and comedian, Chris Langham's career spans the past 30 years. He was part of the original line-up for Not The Nine O'Clock News, starring alongside the then unknown comedians Rowan Atkinson and Mel Smith.
He wrote the BBC1 sitcom Kiss Me Kate, in which he also appeared with Amanda Holden and Caroline Quentin.
But the 57-year-old is arguably best known for his role in the Armando Iannucci comedy The Thick of It, for which he won the 2006 Bafta best comedy performance award.
He was also named as the best comedy actor at the 2005 British Comedy Awards.
