Courtney Love was married to Kurt Cobain for two years
Courtney Love has admitted that she was given drugs at the age of four.
Speaking on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, the rock star-turned-actress said: "I was given drugs at an early age…my father gave me LSD at the age of four [but] I don't remember anything about it."
On her reasons for finally quitting her drugs habit, Love added: "[Eventually] I got to the point of my life the media was so not understanding, especially the British last summer. I thought I'm not doing drugs any more. Now I'm one year, four months clean."
As well as her career as a musician in the rock group Hole, Love also became famous due to her two-year marriage to Nirvana's front man Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994.
Although there was intense media interest in the couple, Love said that she was "shocked" by how she was defined by her marriage to him.
She said: "Kurt was a tough scrapper, a man's man. I loved him and he was my best friend, but he wasn't a saint or fragile, either ... I tend to go for people with problems that run very deep and I don't know why that is."
Love has posed nude for the latest edition of POP magazine, and is no stranger to stripping off in public as she was naked in the final scene of The People vs Larry Flint.
Although she says that "it's easy for me to get my kit off", it may be that her days of shedding her clothes could soon be over, as she told Ross: "[Back] then everything was just perfect, now it has to be well lit."
Love released her memoirs earlier this year.
