Matt Lucas separates from partner he 'married' 18 months ago
Matt Lucas has separated from the partner he 'married' 18 months ago in a civil partnership ceremony.

The Little Britain actor and Kevin McGee were married at Home House, a London private members' club, in December 2006, with many celebrities in attendance.

But a statement issued on behalf of the pair has confirmed that after four-and-a-half years together, they have split amicably.

"It is with sadness that Matt and Kevin announce that their relationship has come to an end," said the statement from their legal representatives Mishcon de Reya and Withers LLP.

"Their separation is amicable.

"They ask the press to respect their privacy at this time and to exercise restraint in any reporting of this matter."

Guests such as comedian Paul O'Grady and EastEnders actors Barbara Windsor and Steve McFadden attended Lucas and McGee's pantomime-themed civil partnership ceremony.

The couple held their reception at Banqueting House in Whitehall before a party at the Soho Revue Bar.

Lucas and his comedy partner David Walliams are currently developing an American version of Little Britain and are developing film projects with DreamWorks Studio and Working Title.
