Lily Allen and Friends back for second series
BBC Three viewers can expect more Lily Allen on their screens after her chat-show was commissioned for a second series.
Eight new 45-minute episodes of Lily Allen and Friends are in the works, a BBC statement announced on Tuesday.
Series one of the controversial show, which finishes on BBC Three tonight and is filmed in front of Allen's online friends, has already seen stars such as Mark Ronson, Cuba Gooding Junior and Louis Walsh interviewed by Allen.
The 22-year-old singer has attracted criticism during the show's run after extolling the practice of "kegging", which involves pulling down someone's trousers in public.
But BBC Three controller Danny Cohen said he was "delighted" for Lily Allen and Friends was returning for a second series.
He said that the show had doubled BBC Three's audience share of 16 to 34-year-olds since it led the channel's relaunch in February.
"Lily is a star," he said. "She has developed astoundingly well as a TV host in just a few weeks and has established herself as a firm favourite with the young audiences BBC Three targets."
The singer herself said she was "thrilled" at the prospect of a second series, which she said had been "such a laugh".
"I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who tuned in, and I can't wait to film series two," she revealed.
