Martine's bag snatch fright

Tuesday, 31 Oct 2006 12:25
The Eastenders star was in her car in Chelsea when her bag was stolen
Popular actress and singer Martine McCutcheon was a victim of street crime when her handbag was stolen from her, according to reports.

The EastEnders star was in her car on the King's Road in Chelsea when a white male jumped into her vehicle and stole her handbag.

A friend of the actress told the Daily Mirror that when the man jumped into the passenger side of the car, "Martine screamed and just said: 'Please, no'." She then reported the incident to the police.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan police said: "Officers in Kensington and Chelsea are investigating an allegation of robbery on a 30-year-old woman which allegedly took place on the King's Road at 17:00 GMT on October 25th.

No arrests have so far been made, the Met has confirmed.

Martine, who shocked cynics back in 1999 when she scored a number one hit single with Perfect Moment, is currently working on a new film Jump! with Patrick Swayze.

As well as playing the loveable tea-girl to the prime minister in Love Actually, Martine received much acclaim and a Laurence Olivier award in 2002 for her role as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady in the West End.
