Kris Marshall stage return 'expected' after car crash

Tuesday, 29 Apr 2008 15:23
Kris Marshall is expected to attend rehearsals soon
Kris Marshall is likely to return to work after being hospitalised following a car crash, according to his colleagues.

The My Family star was admitted to the Bristol Royal Infirmary when he sustained head injuries after being hit by a car while out with friends in the city on Sunday.

Though the actor's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening he was treated in intensive care following the incident, which occurred near Bristol Hippodrome.

But according to his co-stars in the upcoming West End play Fat Pig, he is expected to be able to tread the boards sooner rather than later.

"I'm sure he'll be back in rehearsals on Thursday," actress Ella Smith told the BBC's ONE Breakfast show.

"We think it's a just a big ploy because he hasn't learnt his lines... but no, he's fine and we really look forward to having him back."

"Last we heard he's doing very well - apparently he has the day off tomorrow and then he'll be back," added Peep Show star Robert Webb.

Love Actually star Marshall, recently seen alongside Billie Piper and Laurence Fox in West End play Treats, won the best comedy newcomer prize at the British Comedy Awards in 2002.

Neil LaBute's Fat Pig, starring Marshall, Webb, Smith and Gavin and Stacey actress Joanna Page, is set to make its West End debut next month.
