Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson up for Razzies

Hilton: don't want no raspberries
A clutch of America's favourite party girls are said to be hot favourites to be dishonoured at 2006's Golden Raspberry Awards.

A film awards expert has marked out Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as likely candidates to fight it out for the worst actress of 2005 award, at the ceremony which names and shames the worst of Hollywood's output.

Tom O'Neill, who runs film website, Theenvelope.com, said: "Expect to see Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton clawing it out at the next Razzies to 'win' worst actress of 2005.

"Simpson's a shoe-in to be nominated for the Dukes of Hazzard, but it's unclear which of Hilton's films she'll compete against: Pledge This or House of Wax. Hilton could actually be nominated for both, if she's placed in the supporting race for Wax."

He added that he would expect some-time Hilton sidekick, Nicole Richie to be nominated for Kids in America, while Ashlee Simpson should be battling with her sister for the gong thanks to her appearance in Undiscovered.

The nominations will officially be announced on January 30th 2006, and the (un)lucky winners will be unveiled at lavish ceremony on March 4th in Hollywood.

Other categories include worst picture, worst actor, worst remake or sequel and worst director.

Cat Woman, which starred Halle Berry, cleaned up at last year's awards, scooping four gongs for worst actress, worst picture, worst director and worst screenplay.

Berry became the first star to actually accept her award in person for three years, making a speech while clasping her 2002 Best Actress Academy award (Monster's Ball) in one hand and her 2005 Worst Actress (Catwoman) in the other.

It remains to be seen if the offer of a free party will be enough to see Hilton, the Simpsons, or Richie turn up to the ceremony - if nominated.

The filmic disaster that was Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's Gigli was named the worst comedy of the awards' first 25 years.
