Sport Relief has already raised in excess of £29 million for global charities, with the help of James Corden aka Smithy and Cheryl Cole.

The BBC fundraiser saw stars from music, sport and comedy come together to raise money for vulnerable people in the UK and the world's poorest nations.

Making her first television appearance since splitting from footballer husband Ashley, Cheryl Cole appeared on stage to congratulate Rufus Hound, the comedian who performed a spoof dance routine of her Fight For This Love single, and later Cole, 26, took to the stage with new single Parachute.

The telethon also saw a star performance from Gavin and Stacey's James Corden - Smithy - whose charity skits included sharing a bath with David Beckham and playing Andy Murray at tennis.

Celebrity efforts to raise money for Sport Relief have also included Christine Bleakley's water-ski across the English channel, Davina McCall and David Walliams' cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End with other fellow celebs and comedian Eddie Izzard's completion of 43 marathons in 51 days.
