Tributes from the likes of Elton John and David Bowie have poured in for the singer/songwriter Lesley Cox whose funeral took place yesterday.
Cox, formerly Duncan, provided backing vocals for the likes of Elton John, Pink Floyd, Ringo Star and Dusty Springfield.
When the 66-year-old died last week, most of the residents on her home of the Isle of Mull were unaware of her former fame. But they soon found out when the likes of Sir Elton sent flowers and Bowie sent his condolences.
Her vocals, which include Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album, also saw her achieve a successful solo career, and her 1971 album Sing Children Sing features Sir Elton on the piano.
At her funeral her husband Tony called her "popular for being a cheerful person", while local councillor Gordon Chalmers said of her former fame: "I am sure that there were only a few people who knew about it.
"She was so self-effacing about it, she would never say that she had met all these people and been to all these places. She kept it to herself, she never advertised the fact."
